Squashbal keuze - Squashwebwinkel

Squash ball choice

Ball choice.

Just like in any sport, your experience and playing level determines what kind of equipment you buy. In the case of squash balls, it is no different. Here is a short explanation, to help you with the purchase choice of new squash balls. When you hit the ball, part of the kinetic energy is converted into heat. This increases the temperature of the air in the ball. This increases the pressure, and the ball bounces better. So the longer you play with a ball, the easier it bounces.

If you have been playing with the same ball for a while, it will start to react less well at some point. Good, predictable bounce is important. The lack of this can be really frustrating. So replace your balls regularly. It also happens regularly that a ball gets a puncture, you will then notice very quickly that the ball no longer bounces well. It depends very much on your playing style how long it takes before you have to replace a ball. It is often the case that if you hit a lot of hard balls, you will also have to replace your ball more quickly, perhaps even every month. Double yellow dot balls will have to be replaced more often.

There are different types of squash balls that can be played with. The difference is in the size of the ball but mainly in how well (or badly) the ball bounces. The most common squash ball is from the brand Dunlop. But we also sell other brands. A distinction is made between the following types of squash balls.

Squash balls

The Dunlop Pro,

Black ball with 2 yellow dots. This is the official ball of the World Squash Federation (WSF) Professional Squash Association (PSA) and the Women's International Squash Players Association (WISPA). This is the ball that is used in all international squash competitions. So also in the Netherlands. Also the most used and sold squash ball in the Dutch and Belgian squash centers. The ball has a recommended retail price of € 5.00 per ball. Squashwebwinkel.nl sells the ball for € 3.75 each. € 9.95 for 3 balls and as a special offer 12 balls for € 37.50.

The Dunlop Competition,

The black squash ball with 1 yellow dot. This ball has the same dimensions as the official match ball (Pro), only this ball bounces 10% more than the Pro ball. The ball is used by players who want a ball that bounces a little more and therefore get more fun and longer rallies. You have a little more time to get to the ball and play it back. But also on slow courts or in colder periods of the year a yellow dot can be better than 2 dots. I myself play in a center in the winter period with a yellow dot instead of the double yellow. If we didn't do it, the ball would quickly fall dead or you would hit yourself to give the ball speed. This can lead to a muscle injury to your hitting arm. The advanced player plays with a yellow dot. Squashwebwinkel.nl sells the ball for € 3.75 each. € 9.95 for 3 balls and as a special offer 12 balls for € 37.50.

The Dunlop Progress,

Black ball without dot (or black ball with red dot). This ball is 6% larger than the official match ball and bounces 20% more. Especially for the beginning player. Start of fun rallies where you have a lot of time to hit the ball back. Squashwebwinkel.nl sells the ball for € 3.75 each. € 9.95 for 3 balls and as a special offer 12 balls for € 37.50.

The Dunlop Max,

Blue ball without dot (or black ball with blue dot). This ball is 12% larger than the official match ball and bounces 40% more. For beginners and young players it is definitely recommended to use the Max or the Progress. These are the fastest balls that bounce the most. Squashwebwinkel.nl sells the ball for € 3.75 each. € 9.95 for 3 balls and as a special offer 12 balls for € 37.50.

The trainer's ball,

The Karakal trainer ball is good. Karakal calls it the big ball. It meets all the requirements and is very suitable for teaching the little ones among us. The ball is a lot bigger and bounces well enough, even when the ball is not really warm.

Another good trainer ball is the Eye squash ball with pink dot. The advantage of this ball is that it is the same size as the other balls. Definitely recommended to train with beginning players.

The Dunlop white match ball,

In addition to the balls above, we also sell the Dunlop white squash ball. The ball is actually intended for squash courts with glass side walls. Because the view through the glass becomes dark and the ball is therefore sometimes no longer visible to the players, but also to the public, you can use a white squash ball. This is actually a double yellow ball, but then made white specifically for this problem. Of course it is also fun to use it once in a final or something.

Victor squash balls,

All Victor squash balls are good. In Germany, the Victor double yellow is even mandatory during official matches. Nmm, there is little to no difference in the Dunlop balls. The only difference is the price. The Victor balls are cheaper than the Dunlop balls, namely € 2.65 per ball.

They are available with a blue, red, yellow and double yellow dot.

Squash ball tip.

I would like to sell, but the beginning player always orders a lot of balls. Don't do this. You play quite a long time with a ball. You don't have to buy 10.... A nice opportunity to test balls is the Dunlop starter set balls. These are three balls from Dunlop. one with a blue dot, red dot and the single yellow dot. After a while, switch with another ball and you will immediately get a different (more fun) game.
